Our Story
Gifts of Flowers Designed by TA is a family-run floral design studio built by mother and son, Trina and Alexavier.
For a long time, we stayed quietly in the background. We focused on the flowers rather than ourselves. But over time, we realized something important: the heart behind the work matters too.
Alexavier discovered floral design at a young age and pursued formal floral education, bringing a fresh artistic perspective and modern design approach into the studio. Watching his creativity grow also reopened something in me.
Long before the studio existed, flowers had already been part of my life.
I grew up in Newark, New Jersey, just across the river from New York City. As a young teenager, I worked in a flower shop on Bergen Street in Newark until the owner eventually closed the business. Even then, flowers, color, texture, and artistic expression stayed with me.
Later, I studied art history and mathematics in school — two subjects that shaped how I see both beauty and structure in the world around me.
After getting married and later spending time living in New York, I became more deeply exposed to the floral and creative communities surrounding the city — museums, botanical gardens, street flower vendors, design culture, and the artistic energy that naturally exists there. Those experiences quietly stayed with me over the years.
I also spent many years creating arrangements with silk florals simply because I loved design and composition. People would often tell me I should pursue floristry professionally, but I never felt educated enough or confident enough to fully step into that world.
Working alongside my son changed that.
His education became an education for me as well. Together, we began studying flowers more deeply — their movement, structure, care, seasonality, emotion, and the way floral design can affect how people feel inside a space.
What started as a mother supporting her son slowly became a shared creative journey.
Today, our studio reflects both of us:
his modern artistic energy and my lifelong love for beauty, emotion, comfort, and meaningful human connection.
We believe flowers are not simply products.
They are part of people’s lives.
They appear during grief, celebration, apology, healing, love, remembrance, and hope. Because of that, we approach floristry with care, honesty, and intention rather than mass production or formula-based design.
Our goal is not to become the largest florist.
Our goal is to create work that feels personal, artistic, alive, and deeply human.
